The Brooklyn Rural Fire Brigade is part of the NSW Rural Fire Service, the world's largest fire service. Our aim is to protect lives and property from the threat of fires and other emergencies, as well as promoting fire safety and providing general support to the local community.
Our Brigade is made up of well trained and equipped volunteer fire fighters who specialise in providing emergency response services to Brooklyn and the surrounding areas. Our Brigade is one of the busiest within NSW and responds to various emergency call outs; including F3 and off shore fire incidents, search and rescue and the proverbial cat stuck up a tree. We also provide crew support to other branches of the Rural Fire Services and government funded emergency services.
Our comprehensive training has allowed our members to become highly skilled in all operational competencies required to be a successful and valuable member of the Brooklyn RFS. We expect our members to be well trained and prepared for all incidents and we encourage our members to further develop their skills and provide additional training where required.
“Both training and fire fighting can be very demanding both physically and mentally, but the personal rewards each member achieves are definitely worth it.”
Our training is a serious part of the brigade life, we try to make this as interesting and fun as possible, but don’t worry it’s not “all hard work and no play” – “We work hard and play hard” too, after most training nights, we bond as a group - sharing a joke or 2 and a yarn of “war stories”.
If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty and meeting likeminded community volunteers, then why not get involved with Brooklyn’s Rural Fire Service Brigade and be part of its long history of serving the Brooklyn area. You can contact us by email or just pop in on a Tuesday night and say hello, after 7:30pm and have a chat with our friendly members.
